Our trombone top now comes in three sizes. We recommend our original Bach 11 Rim (medium) for all tenor trombonists who plan on doubling on a small brass instrument. For bass trombone or tuba players, we recommend using our Bach 16 1/2 (large) Rim for small brass doubling. For players who normally play on a Bach 12 or smaller mouthpiece we recommend our Schilke 44B (small). |
Hybrid Q&A
Attention: All trombonists, euphonium and low-brass players. What is the Chasons Hybrid Crossover Mouthpiece? It is an incredible mouthpiece engineered to give the low brass player the means to effectively (very good tone and intonation) play on a trumpet, cornet, fluglehorn or F.horn, without damaging their embouchure. The very shallow cup has a Bach sized 11 rim. At a gig, performance or band room, you can move from a low brass to a high brass for a specific tune and then back to your low brass without abnormal swelling. At left you see a Bach 6 1/2 AL next to a trombone to cornet hyrid. This is a modified Al Cass doubler mouthpiece. Mr. Cass invented and patented this crossover concept in the 1950's and we think we have improved it. Wycliffe Gordon, one of the greatest jazz trombonists in the world, also doubles on trumpet for performance and recording. He uses a Chasons Hybrid Crossover (Wycliffe Gordon Signature Trombone-to Trumpet one-piece). Wycliffe says, "I LOVE this mouthpiece!…it's THE answer for the crossover musician." The silver plated brass mouthpiece top, along with the screw-in trumpet, cornet, flugelhorn and horn backbores are ready for immediate purchase. They are guaranteed. If you are not happy with the mouthpiece, return it for a refund. |
